Mapping Radical Tyneside

This website allows you to explore Tyneside’s rich history of radicalism and activism. You can search an archive of radical activity and map these moments on to a modern map of the Tyneside region. If you have an event, place or person that is not represented on the map, and that you think should be, then do get in touch with the project through the ‘get involved’ link.

The search function allows you to search for moments of radical activity on Tyneside in a number of ways. One way is to type key words—they might be names of people, types of radical movements or key issues—into the free text search function. Alternatively, you might like to search for events by date or theme. Whichever way you choose to search, you will be able to select whether you want to see the hits in a summary list form, or as markers on a modern map of Tyneside.
